Leisure Batteries & Power Systems

The electrical system is crucial to a campervan or motorhome. Without a dependable setup, you won't be able to enjoy the comforts of heating, a fridge, running water, lighting, and USB charging. A poorly designed or inadequate system might force you to rely solely on a mains hook-up, tying you to campsites whenever you use your van.

Selecting a power system for your van requires lots of consideration of its intended use. Overspecification of systems can lead to unnecessary costs, therefore, estimating your typical van usage is crucial to avoid expenses beyond your budget.

If you plan to stay in your van for more than a few days without driving we advise installing a solar panel as this helps to keep the battery topped up while running a fridge, however, a solar panel is not essential if you intend to drive the vehicle regularly and charge it using the engine.

Unless there is a requirement for prolonged winter usage or the desire to run high powered electrical appliances we would not recommend installing a mains hook-up due to the additional cost. Nevertheless, these features can be easily integrated during the initial build or retrofitted at a later date.
